Danielle Weiss, a former tour leader for G.A.P, has become their Sustainable Tourism Coordinator. While I was quizzing Danielle about sustainable travel issues of course I asked her a little about herself and her link with the experience and eco-travel business. I understood that I had an extremely interesting person immediately in the front of me, who has lived, worked, studied and volunteered in-a variety of foreign nations, as she began to tell me more about her history. Danielle completed a qualification in environmental studies at the University of Waterloo and during her school years she moved to Guatemala and Costa Rica. In her third year of studies she went along to Ecuador for just two semesters. During the initial semester she worked on educational studies, while during the 2nd semester she offered in a coastal marketplace project where she offered environmental knowledge to local kids, got involved in a tree planting program and worked in a women’s program.

That year in Ecuador really changed her life – Danielle returned someone different. One of the most striking experience was that she’d created a solid distaste for the materialism that is so predominant within our western societies.
